Winter walk to Tom an t-Suidhe Mhoir, December 2025
We are a small, friendly group based in and around Inverness. We meet every weekend to explore the scenery of the Scottish Highlands in convivial company.
We have about 120 members in all, and walk just about every week – Saturdays and Sundays, time about. We aim to provide walks to suit most abilities and tastes – pleasant riverside rambles all the way up to tough Munros.
Many of our members (but not all) are around retirement age or over. Numbers per walk vary – typically from the low teens to the high twenties. You can choose to car share (with a contribution to transport costs) or travel independently to the starting point. Many members enjoy stopping for a coffee on the way home from a walk.
It’s a friendly group, and newcomers find it easy to fit in.
The annual subscription of £12 – which has been unchanged for some years – covers hire of rooms for meetings, public liability insurance, reimbursement of pre-walk expenses, website maintenance costs, and occasional donations to walking or wildlife charities.
To see if it suits, non-members can walk with us on two occasions before deciding whether to join. Likewise, those just passing through the area can walk with us on up to 2 occasions. The walks are listed on the website, and non-members should contact the secretary for the leader’s contact details, so that they can book in.
If there’s anything else you’d like to know, it may be covered on the website – if not, do get in touch.
